Why speaking English should be easier for Malaysian?

I had a speaking class with my students today. This was our first speaking class as I was focusing more on comprehension and grammar, previously. Most of my students come from the Middle East countries, so it is difficult for them to speak with the correct pronunciation. They come from countries which have their own forms of lingua franca; be it written or spoken. Totally different. Thus, I do understand their difficulties. It is incomparable to Malaysian students' ability in using this second language. We should and must be thankful that we have these advantages of applying the language in our country, which we actually have been taking it for granted. Understanding English should be easier for us due to these reasons:

1- The alphabets learned in English and Bahasa Melayu are identical. We learn the same A, B, C,... and 1,2,3.... the difference is only the language. The students from the Middle East's (and also from other countries such as China, Korea, Japan) have to learn two types of alphabets!

2. We are exposed (or over exposed) to English language since day one! How many mommies here sing 'twinkle twinkle little star' to their babies? Can I see hands? And we can not deny that most of the English movies / songs / tv programs (be it American, British or Aussies) are good to watch and listen. Who would miss to watch great movies like Transformers, Iron Man, Catch Me If You' can or who would not sing along when songs like 'Price Tag, Someone like you, Move like a jagger' are aired on the radio!

3. English is our second language. When it is the 'second', that means it is important to learn apart from the first, Bahasa Melayu. Thus, we have been fed with this reminder since we were small. We know that it is not awkward to see there are tv channels that only specified for English programs; English news, movies, series, talk shows. For example 8TV, TV2, Hitz TV. We also listen to local English radio stations such as hitz, fly, light and easy, mix. And yet, we are OK about it. We don't feel that it is a mother-tongue pollution. Not at all.

4. And of course, English is a compulsory subject in our national school. Even though, most of us only uses the language within class hours, but we have English class at least for three days in a week. Thus, we have learned English for 6 hours in a week.

Thus, I just think that we, Malaysian should benefit the opportunities that we have, around us. I pity my students that they can not pronounce words as clearly as I do. Because they just don't  have those opportunities like we do.

People that I always remember and miss

These are the people that I always miss. It is different now as some of us (including myself) have met our new fate in life. These people, are the ones that I thank Allah SWT for giving me the chance to know and work with. We are far by distance but always close inside our heart. Love and I wish them all the best in their journey called life.

Different circle, one love

I always feel grateful because apart from being granted with wonderful husband, kids, parents, parents in law, siblings, in laws, relatives, I am also being surrounded with friends that u would not replace with anything else. Syukur Alhamdulillah. I love girlfriends. I love the idea of good friendship. Since I was a little girl, I get used to have a bff. I was a shy girl when I was in school. Thus, I only felt comfortable to have only one bff. I did not know how to socialize in a big group or in a clique. Haha..looser ke tak tu...I would get jealous if my bff get so close with other friends...pape ntah. It lasted till my first few semesters in uitm when I did my pre-TESL. Then, I started to feel more comfortable to have a clique compared to one single bff. Maybe it resulted from the hostel life I had back then. Till now, I easily get into any group of friends and Alhamdulillah, I treasure each friend that I have. They complete my life. Nowadays, it's easier to realize how many circles of friends that we have when we can communicate via whatsapp, we chat, line, etc... Even though my friends are grouped differently in my whatsapp list, but my love towards them are never dissimilar. I love these ladies that you can see in the pictures equally. I dedicate this to all my bffs. Thank you for making my life more meaningful and colorful.

Fahri and Naeem

They are totally different. Physically and psychologically. If you meet them playing together at a playground, you will have a hard time to believe that they are brothers, biologically. But one thing is for sure, Fahri has his papa's look while Naeem has my look, we believe. I am so happy now they always have each other to play with, even though sometimes they couldn't get along and competing with each other to get our attention. I am happy because I know, if my hubby and I are busy and can not be with them at times, they won't feel lonely. Because they have each other. It is tiring to raise them both at the same time because their small age gap (2 years gap). Both couldn't really take care of their own self, both needs attention, both needs us to do lots of things...still. It is enough if you can imagine both of them is screaming, throwing tantrum, crying, wanted to be hold, when you hug and comfort one of them, the other one will scream and wanted the same thing! All you need is SUPER patience, energy, and emotionally well. However, their presence in our life is always meaningful and remarkable. What a wonderful journey and gift that we have. Thank you Allah s.w.t.

We even celebrated their birthday on the same day.  Fahri is a September baby while Naeem is an August baby.

Hmm.. I wonder..will I end up like the Beckhams? 3 boys and one last girl? haha..nak samakan dgn Beckhams jugak kan..

Fahri's latest!

Apart from Naeem's long hiatus here, I also have not posted any latest news and pictures of Fahri. Abg Fahri is 3 years old now. Big boy already. He is more behaved now. Love watching Upin and Boboiboy so much. He could memorize ABC, 123 and Alif Ba Ta already. He loves to scream. He talked a lot (in his own language) and you can understand him most of the times. Mama and papa's sweetheart forever.

Naeem's milestones

Each time I log on to my blog, I feel bad because I left this blog for quite sometimes due to my never-ending task, I did not update Naeem's milestones or at least, his latest pictures here, like what I did for Fahri. I didn't have time, was so busy with my work back then and I would say I was frustrated with few things that happened in my life. Yes, back then. But, I was never feeling regret about it. It makes me stronger and I appreciate life more than before. Anyway, I would like to dedicate this post to my second son, Naeem. He is 1 year and 2 months old now. I would describe Naeem as: impatient (haha), smart (all mommies would claim kot), senang sakit perut (masuk angin), lovable, friendly, food lover (especially rice), heavy, big eyes, haha..ntah pape ntah description mama ni..anyway...I love u baby!
