Dry season that our country was going through since last few weeks has affected us in so many ways. Health, environment, water level decreasing and etc. This is the test from Allah swt. Only a little test from him. Nothing can be compared with the test that is given to our Muslim relatives in other countries like Syria or Palestine. SubhanAllah.
My kids were admitted to KPJ Shah Alam one month ago for 5 days. Both were Rotavirus positive. What is Rotavirus.. let me quote from www.cdc.gov/rotavirus/ :
"Rotavirus is a virus that causes gastroenteritis (inflammation of the
stomach and intestines). The rotavirus disease causes severe watery
diarrhea, often with vomiting, fever, and abdominal pain. In babies and
young children, it can lead to dehydration (loss of body fluids).
Rotavirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhea in infants and young
children worldwide. Globally, it causes more than a half a million
deaths each year in children younger than 5 years of age."
All I could remember was the last time we went out was the day before. We went to kfc AEON Bukit Tinggi and the boys were so enjoying their chicken meals.
Us at kfc
On that particular day, Naeem refused to eat. When I came back from
work, I tried to persuade him to eat but he refused and vomited out of
sudden. Mak said that was the second time he vomited. I started to worry
because his vomiting felt warm and in a large amount. Then he threw up
again when he was playing around inside our bedroom. My mother instinct
knew there must be something wrong. Fahri also lost his appetite that day. He did not eat as much as he always does.
So, around 8 pm, we brought the kids to a restaurant nearby because both kids love the Chinese fried rice there. Who knows..they would have their selera to eat there. Shockingly, when were about to reach the restaurant, Fahri vomited inside the car on his lap where he sat on his car seat! I said to Epul "These kids are not feeling good", but hubby said, trying to be positive "No lah. Fahri is always vomiting. He easily feels dizzy inside a car". Then I said "But, it has been a long time he has not been vomiting.. I have a strong feeling that these kids are having upset stomach. Naeem also vomited for three times today".. Then, we decided that hubby went in to the restaurant with Naeem first and I will bring Fahri back to change his shirt and pants.. I drove Fahri back to our house, washed him a lil bit, changed his cloth and we went inside our car.. agin..reaching the same destination.. Then, on our way, again, just after the corner of the guard's gate, he threw up again! Oh my! And it was a lot. My fahri looked so helpless..huhu siannye anak mama.. I tried to call Epul, but maybe he was busy entertaining Naeem, he didn't pick up. So, I returned back to our home, again! I couldn't reach Epul, I wanted to tell him that just tapau the food and I will pick them up..because Fahri looked so pale and tired. So, after changing his cloth again, with the hope that Fahri will no be vomiting, I took him to the restaurant which only takes 5 mins from our house. But again!, he vomited at the same spot after the corner of the guard's gate. Poor my fahri... But I just drove to the restaurant.. When I reached, I called Epul again and he was so puzzled why did it take me so long just to change Fahri's cloth. Then, I told him what happened.. we bungkus the food and went back. We were worried, yes but we know if we went to Emergency at KPJ, there is no specialist paed available at that time, so we decided to wait till the next morning while monitoring them. All I could remember, both Fahri and Naeem were vomiting for almost 3 times while they were sleeping till morning. Poor our babies. Then, around 10 am, we headed to KPJ Shah Alam, went to Emergency's, had a check up with a general doctor, then we requested to be referred to a specialist. Then, we waited for 1 hour. Luckily, I found my relative who works there, in charge of insurance issues. So, she was helping so much! Thank you Kak Nora! After meeting Dr Ho, the gynea, he said these kids need to be admitted because they were already dehydrated. We think that was the best decision ever. Oh yeah, Naeem started to have diarrhea since night. We took emergency leave and informed our HR.
We also did inform our parents both sides. Oh yes, my sis in law, Ain was following us to the hospital. She was being very super kind to actually helping me and hubby, looking after the kids, in fact did over night at the hospital with me n epul for few nights. Thank u so much Ain! Love u!
The first, second and third day of admission, were very helpless. Just imagine, both of them were having the same symptoms- vomiting, diarrhea.. for countless times. The vomiting and the stool have a very unpleasant smell. It was just unhealthy smell. The doc said that is the smell of bacteria...urggh..sorry to make u picture this hehe...They also had a slight fever. Poor them, they were just lying on the bed. Bedridden. Luckily they were placed in a same room. Fahri was behaved, just at times when he felt shy because he kept throwing up and down, he threw tantrum. But Naeem, he was so rebellious. Just imagine, with a drip on his hand, with all the drip bag, wires and machine, he did not stand seat still.. he wanted to go out, threw tantrum, crying, poor him. We have to call the nurses for hundred times because their watery stool has stained the bedsheets each time they buang air besar and muntah. Everything that went inside their mouth and reached their stomach will be thrown out 5 mins later. Huh.. A test from Allah swt.
My hub and I were so tired and restless but luckily, my parents in law were regularly paying a visit and helped us. Also thank you to my parents from Kuantan who came to pay a visit for 2 days. It really meant a lot. Oh yeah, after my sons were getting much better, my mom and myself were infected by this virus.
And yes, after a stool test, my sons were confirmed Rotavirus positive, that was like one day after being admitted. After 5 days, they were getting back to normal, spending their last moments in the hospital, running around, climbing around..duhhh.. but at that time, I was so helpless because I got infected pulak. And... the discharge process was very very late. It took us from 3 pm to 10 pm of waiting.. what the la kan.. I was very helpless to ask the nurses for few times because.. when my hubby arrived (came back from his master's class), he was so pissed off and went down to check with the insurance officers. I think he gave them 'a piece of advice' because straight away after that, the kids were being released. Thank you to my parents in law and my sis in law, Ain for patiently waiting because the mama was so helpless and only could lie on my son's hospital beds.
My gratitude also goes to all friends who came like chad, schenna, tj, hanis, bayne and cerub. And also to all friends who were praying for my kids' speedy recovery be it through fb, wsapp or instagram and phone calls.
It is all about being more hygienic. Especially when bringing kids eating outside. Sanitizer is a must inside our handbag, ok mommy. We also should be extra alert on our kids' hygiene. Anyway, this is surely another test from Allah swt. To remember and keep being grateful with all the the blessings in our life.
